Hello,

Every year, Korea brings together its most promising start-ups for an exhibition called NextRise. This year’s NextRise conference has just wrapped up, and I have to say I've been blown away by some of the companies exhibiting.

Over the course of two days, 180 startups, including nr2.io, shared their global potential to investors and corporates.

A visitor checking the nr2 website at NextRise

A lot of people came by to see us. I’d summarize the two days as versions of these two exchanges:

- 'Does your AI read the internet in Korean?'

-> Yes. It reads the news and extracts key information.

- 'Can you help me find and follow start-ups in Korea?'

-> Yes. Through our search engine and Theia emails.

It was great to get the word out. The message we received loud and clear was we need to build a feature to make it easier to follow your favourite companies. All I want to say is rest assured: I hear you and this feature is on its way...

nr2 aside, running through all these conversations was clear excitement about Korean startups. I don’t know whether it’s Coupang’s IPO this year, or the upcoming IPO of Krafton, but people are taking these Korean startups seriously. Their interest wasn’t idle and there was a lot of it. In the end, the whole nr2 team came to the booth to talk to people. nr2 family takes priority!

It’s obviously not the same as meeting the founders in person, but I want you to have as much of a sense of these startups as possible.

All the startups showing at the event were picked up by our search engine algorithms. If you want to see the kind of companies I’ve been talking to, just put the keyword ‘NextRise’ into the search engine. You can see all the data we have on these companies. In case you’re new to the search engine, heads up that the news section for each company gives you real-time updates on related articles.

Let me know if any of the start-ups particularly stands out, and I’ll gladly give you more colour.

That's it for this week. This NextRise event has really shown Korea is getting ready to go global. Exciting times!

Thanks as ever for reading and, if you like what you see, please consider sharing!

Best,

Jordan
